If you travel several times a year, an annual (multi-trip) policy may be more cost-effective than a per-trip policy. Multi-trip plans cover an unlimited number of trips over 12 months, but limit the duration of each stay (often 30 or 45 days). They include medical and repatriation coverage, as well as cancellation for prepaid trips up to a certain amount.
Maximum duration per trip: 30 to 90 days depending on plan.
Annual ceilings: Some plans limit cancellation coverage to $3,000 per year per person.
Rates and number of trips: The insurance pays for itself after 3 trips a year.
Medical/evacuation coverage: Must remain high (≥ $250,000).
Exclusions: Some annual plans exclude extreme sports or business trips.
Allianz AllTrips Prime / Premier – Best routine option. AllTrips plans cover an unlimited number of trips over 12 months, with trip durations of 45 days (Prime) or 90 days (Premier). They offer an annual cancellation limit of $3,000 per insured, $50,000 medical coverage and $500,000 repatriation.
Seven Corners Wander Frequent Traveler – Flexible and high-capacity. This plan covers trips of 30 or 45 days and includes $500,000 in medical and evacuation coverage, with 75% CFAR/IFAR options.
HTH Preferred / GeoBlue Annual – Seniors and expatriates. HTH annual plans allow 70-day trips (depending on plan) and offer extensions for adventure sports and pre-existing conditions. Some include primary care coverage and a network of international hospitals.
IMG Patriot MultiTrip – Worldwide coverage. The MultiTrip plan offers medical coverage of $250,000 or $500,000, and evacuation coverage of up to $500,000. Each trip cannot exceed 30 days. Adventure Sports Rider options are available.
Travelex / Generali / Nationwide – Good value for money. Travelex offers multi-trip plans with moderate cancellation limits ($10,000) and decent medical coverage ($100,000). Generali and Nationwide offer annual plans for business travelers with guarantees on delays and baggage.
AXA Assistance / AXA Schengen – Limited coverage. AXA offers annual plans for companies, but the medical ceilings are lower than those of our competitors. Trip durations are limited to 30 days and annual cancellation to €1,000.

When should you opt for annual insurance?
Annual insurance becomes cost-effective after 3 trips per year. If each trip exceeds the maximum duration allowed, you’ll need to take out a standard plan for these stays.
Does annual insurance cover cancellations?
Yes, but their annual limit is limited ($3,000 with Allianz AllTrips Prime). If your travel budget is high, take out an individual policy for that specific trip.
What about business travel?
Specific plans (Generali Business, AXA Business) cover business delays, loss of equipment and civil liability.
Do annual plans include CFAR?
Some plans (Seven Corners Wander FT, Allianz AllTrips Premier) offer CFAR/IFAR options, but these must be taken out at the time of purchase.
